We purchased a few tumblers from my favorite antique store thinking they would be a great addition to our library of photo styling pieces. We thought they were just fun cups until the store owner shared that they were called Swanky Swigs, a term coined by Kraft Foods. Created during the Great Depression, these reusable glass containers held processed cheese spreads. As a marketing strategy, Kraft hoped that housewives would purchase more of their product and in so doing they would end up with a nice collection of beverage glasses.
