Gere Kavanaugh

There is much we can learn from Gere (pronounce Jerry) Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh has had a lifetime of creative experiences working in just about every facet of design; creating retail interiors and showrooms for General Motors to designing numerous household and industrial objects, and textiles.

Now that she’s in her 90’s there is still no sign that she’s slowing down. Kavanaugh proclaims, “I work every day. There are a lot of things I still want to get done.” Her curiosity, confidence, and carefreeness allows her to let go and create just to create. She’s not hindered by perfectionism or fear, characteristics that often times handicap a designer.

Her energy and optimism is infectious and it shows in her radically upbeat designs. Influenced by the California design aesthetic, her work is bright, playful, and relatable. Like Kavanaugh, we believe creating good work simply comes from having fun and learning to enjoy the creative process.
